My work consists of flowers which are observed and contained, a traditional feminine subject, but not perhaps as usually seen. The flowers act as a metaphor for woman and humanity in general and comment on our society’s obsession with youth. Some of the images reflect the way we allow ourselves to be held captive; others are vanitas images which warn of the impermanence of youth; the futility of trying to stop time and yet suggest a beauty to this ageing process.
